My Greatest Fear
By: Dennis Spielman
December 2000
This is one of my favorite poems that I wrote. I wrote this back in my freshman year in high school when I got bored in English class, which was a common thing for me in the class.

My Greatest Fear
Walking along the deserted city sidewalks
A black cat skipped across my path
The path I had never traveled alone
While I continued down my path
The towering skyscraper stared down at me
Like I was a meaningless dot
I sat down on the lonely park bench
The street musician's tune faded away
Like a fountain sprinkling
Out the last drops of water
The street lamp flickered out its last ounce of life
I was absolutely alone -
My greatest fear.

The End
